The Listening Field offers confidential, one-to-one psychotherapy for adult men experiencing chronic overwhelm, burnout, emotional overload, or nervous system stress.
This work is especially suited for men who are intelligent, capable, and outwardly functional, yet internally exhausted by constant self-management. Many clients live with ADHD or autism traits, experience long-term masking, or feel misaligned with environments that demand continuous adaptation.
Sessions are structured, paced, and relational. We work carefully with attention, emotion, and nervous system regulation, without forcing emotional performance or premature insight. Therapy is oriented toward steadiness, clarity, and repair rather than optimization or self-improvement.
Common areas of focus include:
- chronic burnout and mental fatigue
- difficulty resting or relaxing even when safe
- emotional shutdown, irritability, or sudden overwhelm
- ADHD- and autism-related regulation challenges in adulthood
- long-term stress from over-functioning or masking
This is not skills coaching or productivity training. It is psychotherapy grounded in relationship, safety, and containment. You do not need a diagnosis, a polished narrative, or the “right words” to begin. We start with what is present and work from there.
Sessions are available in person (Ottawa) and virtually. The practice is confidential, trauma-informed, and focused on supporting sustainable change at a pace that respects your system.
